Jairam objects to rooftop helipads
Minister of state for environment and forests Jairam Ramesh said Monday he would oppose the setting up of private helipads in Mumbai as this “did not make any sense” while “at both the national and global level we are demanding equity and equitable access to global atomospheric space.” The Maharashtra government earlier
cleared 12 new helipads on Mumbai rooftops.
Mr Ramesh told reporters in Mumbai that he had already written to the state chief minister. The MoEF also filed an affidavit to this effect in the Bombay high court.
