Jawan hurt in firing on border
A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was on Tuesday critically injured in hostile firing from Pakistan side of the international border (IB) in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu region. While the police claimed it as a “foiled infiltration attempt”, the BSF did not make any such claim.
BSF sources, rather, stated, “This did not appear to be an infiltration bid as it was a sniper fire which was aimed at the patrol party. The jawan received three bullets in his thighs and one in his neck. The intruders generally fire haphazardly.”
This incident occurred just a day after India lodged a strong protest with Pakistan at Chakkan Da Bagh against “ceasefire violation” on May 23 and “hostile fire killing two jawans” on May 18 at line of control (LoC) in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district.
The sources in the BSF claimed that the Bobian border outpost in Hiranagar sector in Kathua district came under small arms fire from across the IB at around 5.45 am, injuring head constable Anchal Singh of 68 battalion of the BSF.
