Jawan kills five including wife
A jawan of the Tripura State Rifles allegedly shot dead his wife and four in-laws after they objected to his illegal second marriage at Bagabil in Dhalai district of Tripura, police said on Saturday.
Bijoy Reang escaped from his camp at Lalcherra with an AK-47 rifle and went to the house of his father-in-law Kutibasi Tripura and shot him dead at about 10 PM last night, IG (Police Control) Nepal Das said.
The jawan also shot dead his wife Fuli Tripura, mother-in-law, Bilati Tripura, brother in-law Nabajit and sister-in-law Chuarbati.
Das said the jawan had a soured relation with his wife as he illegally married another woman. His wife had lodged a complaint to the authority and a departmental inquiry was on against him.
Reang is absconding.
The IG said all police stations and BSF were alerted so that he could not sneak into Bangladesh.
