Jaya happy, but wants Raja arrest

Taking credit for Union communication minister A. Raja’s resignation over the 2G spectrum scam, AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa demanded his arrest under the Prevention of Corruption Act and trial “for perpetrating the biggest scam in the history of mankind”.

Welcoming his resignation, Ms Jayalalithaa said in a statement here on Monday that the resignation did not signal the end of “the mother of all scams. It is only the beginning. India lost an unprecedented `1,76,379 cores. Raja and persons and institutions close to him gained out of the shady deals and have to be investigated threadbare.”
Insisting on a CBI investigation supplemented by JPC probe, she said the ed and income-tax department too should be involved to trace the money trail. “Every single person who gained out of this scam should be made accountable,” she said.
