Jaya sees share in Central power
AIADMK general secretary J.Jayalalithaa on Saturday asserted that her party will be part of the ruling coalition in the Centre after the 2014 elections.
“Once we are power in Centre, we need not beg the Centre for financial aid and to safeguard our water resources,” Ms Jayalalithaa told the general council. She also said the party workers must keep off corruption and win people’s support.
The general council meeting of the AIADMK at Vanagaram, near Chennai, on Friday resolved to stand by chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in every action taken by her to protect the ‘interests of the party, cadres and the state’.
“The chief minister has won over all the hardships created by betrayers. She has faced all the challenges thrown by her opponents. People who have betrayed and opposed her have sunk without a trace,” the resolution read.
The resolution was largely seen as the party’s ratification of the recent actions by Ms Jayalalithaa against her confidante, Ms Sasikala, and her relatives.
“In fact, there was no single voice protesting Ms Sasikala’s removal from the party,” shared a party leader.

She also said the party workers should be corrupt free and should be approachable to the people.
Resolutions condemning the Centre for infringing on the rights of the state and acting against the federal structure, for not allotting funds to the state and for not providing the PDS kerosene allotment were also passed in the general council.
The meeting also passed a resolution condemning the Centre for trying to make the medical entrance examination compulsory.
The general council also passed resolutions praising and thanking Ms Jayalalithaa on various issues, including moving resolutions in the Assembly on economic sanctions against Sri Lanka and commutation of death sentences for the Rajiv Gandhi case convicts.
Another resolution praised the AIADMK general secretary for raising concerns about Sri Lankan Tamils at the global level.
“When US secretary of state, Ms Hillary Clinton, visited the CM, our leader used the opportunity to safeguard the interests of Tamils,” the resolution said.
