Jaya TV receives 4 more threatening letters
AIADMK backed Jaya TV on Thursday said they had received four more threatening letters warning party chief Jayalalithaa that she would be killed if she visited Madurai for the proposed rally on October 18.
In a complaint to the DGP and Chennai city police commissioner, copies of which were released to the media here, Jaya TV vice-president (News) K.P. Sunil said the envelope containing letters written by various persons was received by his office.
He said all these letters warn AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa of dire consequences if she dares to visit Madurai to address a protest meeting there.
Expressing concern over the continuing threats to Jayalalithaa's life, Sunil demanded suitable investigation and that the culprits behind these letters, be arrested.
Sunil also requested further enhancement of the security cover for Jayalalithaa, who is in the Z plus category. On Wednesday, Jaya TV had received a threatening phone call, reportedly from a supporter of the banned LTTE, warning Jayalalithaa that she would be killed if she visited Madurai for the proposed rally.
Soon after Jayalalitha announced that she would address a public meeting at Madurai last month, more than 10 threatening letters and a threatening call were received by Jaya TV. The Tamil Nadu government had handed over to CBI investigation of the case relating to the threatening letters received by Jayalalithaa.
