Jayalalithaa bonds big time with ‘like-minded brother’
CM J. Jayalalithaa and her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, sharing dais at an Utkal Dibas function in Chennai Friday, praised each other’s administrative capabilities, signaling a coming together of non-Congress CMs to protect state rights.
Ms Jayalalithaa emphasised the need for greater cooperation and harmony between states. “In the present system of multi-level governance, operating in a federal structure, harmonious relations with other states are indispensable.
“There is a definite and high level of inter-dependence emerging in a situation wherein we need to act and prosper together, by a certain well-understood system of bilateral relations,” she said.
CM was happy Tamil Nadu and Odisha thought alike. “We think alike and we are implementing similar schemes.”
She said it was up to the Centre to accept or reject the suggestion of Mr Patnaik that she head a sub-committee of CMs to examine NCTC.
