JD-S workers attack CM aide residence
The war of words between the ruling BJP and the JDS has turned nasty with JDS workers attacking the residence of chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s key aide after he made land grab charge against their party chief H.D. Deve Gowda.
Twenty-four JDS workers have been arrested in connection with the attack on Tuesday night when they stoned the residence of Mr Yeddyurappa’s political secretary B.J. Puttaswamy, damaging window panes, pots and two cars, within hours after he levelled the charge, a senior police official said.
The arrested JDS workers would be charged with threatening Mr Puttaswamy’s life, rioting and damaging property, deputy commissioner of police (central division) G. Ramesh said.
Mr Puttaswamy, who accused Mr Gowda and his family of grabbing 82.01 acres in his home district of Hassan, was mobbed as he alighted from his car and after threatening him that he would not spared for “maligning their leader Kumaraswamy” (JDS state unit chief), they barged into the compound of his residence, the police said.
Mr Puttaswamy managed to get inside his residence, the police said, adding, otherwise, he would have suffered injuries.
The JDS workers also raised slogans against the Yeddyurappa government and Mr Puttaswamy and in support of Mr Kumaraswamy. —PTI
