JD-U seeks normal ties with BJP
The JD(U) on Monday indicated that the party wants to forget and forgive and move ahead in alliance with the BJP for this year’s Bihar Assembly elections. In an indication of thaw between the two parties, Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi is to take part in the next round of Vikash Yatra of the state chief minister Nitish Kumar.
“The process of reconciliation has begun. Bihar deputy chief minister, Sushil Modi, who is the senior BJP leader in the state, will take part in the next round of the Vikash Yatra along with Nitish Kumar, which will criss-cross the areas of Gaya, Jehanabad and Aurangabad,” said a senior JD(U) functionary. The JD(U) leadership is learnt to have apprised senior BJP leaders that the recent flare up in the relations of the two parties has been the handiwork of those who are against the Bihar deputy chief minister, Mr Sushil Modi. The JD(U) leaders, sources said, have told the senior BJP leaders that the Bihar elections are round the corner and the alliance between the two parties should continue.
Meanwhile, LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Monday attacked both the BJP and JD(U) by saying that “while one is spineless the other is playing fraud”. “BJP is spineless and hence saying it wants to continue the alliance despite so much humiliation from its alliance partner,” Mr Paswan told reporters.
