JD(U) disapproves of BJP decision to let BSY continue

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Wednesday disapproved the decision of NDA ally BJP to allow Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to continue in office and said words should match deeds in the fight against corruption.

"I have felt bad about this news," Yadav said when asked whether BJP's decision to allow Mr Yeddyurappa to continue as the chief minister, who faced severe criticism of the opposition in Karnataka for alleged irregularities in land allotment.

Mr Yadav said he had told the BJP leadership "to decide over it as the fight against corruption should be straight forward and there should be no difference between our words and deeds on the issue."

He said the developments in Karnataka have come at a time when the Opposition is waging a war against corruption.

On whether he feels the same yardstick should have been applied to Mr Yeddyurappa as was done in case of Congress chief minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan, who had to resign following the controversy over Adarsh Housing scam, Mr Yadav replied in affirmative.

"There should be one yardstick for both. There should be no different stands," Mr Yadav said adding that he had already told the BJP that they should decide on the allegations concerning land allotment made against the Karnataka chief minister.
