Jet to shift domestic ops to T-3 Oct. 30
Jet Airways on Thursday announced that it, along with its subsidiary carrier Jetlite, would switch domestic operations to the new Terminal T-3 at the IGI Airport from October 30. State-owned carrier Air India (domestic) is also likely to switch over its domestic operations to the T-3 from the same date.
It may be recalled that international operations had commenced at T-3 a few months ago. However, the civil aviation ministry had decided to introduce domestic operations from the T-3 only after issues relating to regularity and backup of electricity supply were sorted out. A meeting is expected to be held next week at the ministry on the issue of switch-over of domestic operations of airline to the T-3.
Meanwhile, the DGCA is understood to have requested the ministry of defence (MoD) to examine if those defence aircraft that match the same type of aircraft under the purview of chapter 2 of the ICAO regulations (that include turbojet or any other such aircraft) could avoid landing at Delhi airport in order to contain noise levels or else land only at the secondary runway at the airport. The DGCA has been trying to cut noise levels at the IGI Airport.
