Jilted youth injects girl with poison
A B.Ed student in Kanpur district was injected poison by her jilted lover when she refused to respond to his advances.
The incident took place on Sunday and the girl, who was later admitted to hospital in Kanpur, died on Tuesday night.
According to reports reaching here, Pooja Tiwari, was being harassed by one Shailendra of Harbans Mohal in Kanpur for the past several years.
To avoid him, Pooja and her family shifted out of Kanpur and settled in Unnao but Shailendra continued to stalk the girl. He would intercept Pooja on her way to Thakurji Mahavidyalaya in Unnao where she was pursuing her B.Ed course. Shailendra even got himself enrolled in the same class.
Earlier this week, Shailendra stopped Pooja outside the campus and when she threatened to raise an alarm, he allegedly got hold of her arm and injected some poisonous substance.
Pooja somehow managed to reach home and informed her parents about the incident after which they immediately rushed her to the district hospital. From here, the doctors referred her to the Lala Lajpat Rai hospital in Kanpur where her condition began deteriorating and she died on Tuesday late evening.
Pooja’s father, S.K. Tiwari, who is a teacher at the Central School in Unnao, has filed a written complaint with the Kotwali police in Unnao accusing Shailendra of injecting his daughter with poison.
Mr Tiwari said that he had approached the Unnao police immediately after the incident but the police refused to intervene in the matter.
