J&K rape accused pulls a Natwarlal on VIP copter

Jammu and Kashmir has its own Natwarlal. In a con worthy of Mithilesh Kumar Srivastava, the infamous Indian fraudster who went by that alias, a resident of Rajouri district, accused in an attempt to rape case, tricked the police into flying him to Jammu in a helicopter often used by VVIPs, including chief minister Omar Abdullah, from Rajouri.

The government has asked Jammu’s director, health services, to probe the incident and submit a report in 72 hours.
On Saturday, 15 persons had died and 24 others were injured when a bus fell into a nearly 400-foot-deep gorge in Rajouri’s Kotranka (Budhal) area. Ten of the seriously injured were airlifted to Jammu’s Government Medical College Hospital in four sorties by the IAF and state-owned helicopters. Delay in arrival of helicopters had evoked protests and the police had used bamboo sticks to disperse agitating crowds. The state-owned MI-17 aircraft was not in a state of readiness and the IAF was approa-ched to airlift injured passengers. It is learnt that the rape accused managed to con his way onto the helicopter to fly to Jammu.
Mohammad Parvez, son of Sabir Hussain of Thanda Pani, Rajouri, had neither been travelling in the ill-fated bus nor was he injured in the accident. In a script straight out of a Bollywood thriller, he mingled with the injured and relocated to Jammu in the helicopter. The man was finally arrested, leaving behind some red faces.
Parvez had a day before the bus accident allegedly attempted to rape a girl in the woods in Manja Kote area of Rajouri. A case was registered against him at the local police station but in order to evade arrest he fled to Jammu.
Investigations have revealed that as the bus accident took place in the village neighbourhood, he decided to leverage the chaos. Posing as one of the seriously injured, he not only escaped in a state helicopter but also collected the Rs 5,000 compensation offered to the injured. As he reached Jammu, while the victims were being taken to hospital, Parvez disappeared and later returned to Manjakote where he was arrested. Before the helicopter ride, he had got himself admitted in the Rajouri district hospital for treatment of “deep scratches” on his face.
