JNTU suspends painting head over abuse
Hyderabad: Stanley Suresh, the head of the painting department at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of Planning and Architecture, was suspended on Thursday by the JNTU vice-chancellor for allegedly sexually harassing his students for years.
The varsity management, which had been dilly-dallying with Suresh’s case, finally took action, following a series of protests by students.
Registrar of the university D. Kavitha confirmed, “Following several complaints by students and considering the investigation report, the vice-chancellor has made an oral statement regarding the suspension of Stanley Suresh. The accused was asked to appear before the management on Thursday but he did not turn up or respond to our calls. The administration will soon be sending him the orders of suspension.”
In the last week of July, several students had staged a dharna at JNTU’s Masab Tank campus demanding the removal of Suresh.
