Joshi: Chacko must give suggestions in writing
Senior BJP leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, M.M. Joshi on Wednesday said JPC chairman P.C. Chacko should give in written his suggestions to him. Mr Chacko had on Tuesday said that the PAC should confine itself to the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocation.
When asked on Wednesday whether he still maintained that there was no need of “parallel probe”, Mr Chacko said, “That probably, he (Dr Joshi) also understands that. That’s why he said he will not deny what I have said. He only said that I should write to him. That is in the right spirit. We will write to him.”
Reacting to Mr Chacko’s remarks, Dr Joshi said, “Mr Chacko is a senior and seasoned member of Parliament. And if he has any suggestions or observations to make about the PAC he should better write to us. I will take into consideration when such a communication reaches me.” Dr Joshi has always maintained that PAC had wide-ranging powers which go beyond examining just the CAG reports on various issues.
The JPC chairman said the committee will discuss on “the correct perspective” of the mandate of the PAC and the duty entrusted to the JPC in its first meeting on March 24.
“He (Dr Joshi) also understands what I have said. The only thing is that procedurally whether I should make a statement outside or write. He is right and I will definitely write to him,” Mr Chacko said.
