Joshi not happy with Meira reply
Public Accounts Committee chairman, Murli Manohar Joshi is apparently not satisfied with the response to his letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar complaining against telecom minister Kapil Sibal for rubbishing the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocation issue.
Though Dr Joshi confirmed that he has received the Speaker’s response to his letter, he refused to divulge further details on the issue. He said he will meet Ms Kumar to further discuss on the issue. Sources however, disclosed the Speaker has taken no position on Dr Joshi’s complaint against Mr Sibal.
In her response to Dr Joshi’s letter, Ms Kumar has merely cited the rules of conduct of proceedings of parliamentary panels, sources said.
The Speaker’s letter was read out by Dr Joshi at the PAC meeting on Tuesday in which Ms Kumar has written that parliamentary committees are constitutional bodies and all must function as per the rules laid down, the sources said. It, however, made no mention to Mr Sibal’s comments which earned him the wrath of the PAC.
Mr Sibal had claimed that the 2G spectrum allocation had caused “zero loss” to the exchequer.
