Joshi report biased, one-sided, says Soz
Notwithstanding the re-appointment of senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi as PAC chairman, JKPCC president Saifuddin Soz today rubbished the report on the 2G scam submitted by the former to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.
“This report is biased, one-sided and it too would gather dust like several other reports of the committee. But we reject it as Murli Manohar Joshi violated the rules of committee that there should be consensus on the report without dissent. And secondly we’ve a right to call witnesses,” stated Mr Soz, who was elected as chairman of PAC by 11 committee members of UPA and others on Friday.
He was talking to the media on the sidelines of a function organised in connection with May Day by INTUC.
The JKPCC president added, “We were not allowed to call the witnesses. Only a senior correspondent of Pioneer was called but Arun Shourie, who had served as the Union minister, was not called. India is a democratic nation and he (Joshi) is trying to subvert its democratic institutions.”
When asked about the reappointment of Mr Joshi as PAC chairman by the Speaker, his reply was, “What’s the big deal about it?”
This is a democracy. The PAC will continue to work but we won’t accept the report till he does not adhere to the Indian Constitution. I would continue to be its member, Joshi too will be there. Joshi damaged PAC with his acts, but we’ll rectify those mistakes.”
