JPC into 2G spectrum allocation necessary: BJP
The BJP on Tuesday stuck to its demand for a joint parliamentary probe into the 2G spectrum allocation and pressed for initiation of criminal proceedings against those involved in the scam, including former telecom minister A. Raja.
"We would like to see initiation of prompt criminal investigation as soon as possible and punishment of all guilty in the 2G spectrum case," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters outside Parliament.
"We want JPC. There should be a proper and fare inquiry and that is what we want. At the same time we want prompt action against all. including Mr Raja, who are involved in the case," he said.
Hinting about the possible involvement of others in the scam, Mr Prasad said: "Raja is very small player in the whole spectrum case. We have been raising it since 2007. He (Raja) has been publicly stated that the Prime Minister has approved it and he has taken his consent also."
He said "the point is how could such a big loot of public money in utter violation of all the official notings, the guidelines continued to be made effective with no check inspite of repeated protests inside and outside Parliament."
On the CAG report on 2G spectrum allocation, which was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, he said: "CAG will go to the PAC that is the constitutional requirement.
"But CAG report by itself is not alone there are series of other reports... CVC indictment and Delhi high court indictment."
