Jundal offers Ramzan prayer
Senior crime branch officers said that Abu Jundal has started observing Ramzan, and had kept a roza on Sunday. Officers said that he would be given only a vegetarian meal to break his fast every evening.
Further, officers said that their main focus when interrogating Jundal would be “Operation Karachi”, in which many Indians like Jundal were asked to carry out blasts in cities across India. They would also attempt to establish the exact role of Pakistan state actors in the 26/11 terror raids.
Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, is believed to be one of the six handlers of the 10 terrorists who executed the 26/11 raids from a control room in Karachi. Besides Jundal, officials of Pakistan ISI and even a major of the Pakistan army is suspected to be in the control room.
“Jundal is observing Ramzan and had kept a roza. He also offered prayers (namaaz) and we later gave him vegetarian food to break his fast,” said one of the four officers who are interrogating Jundal.
Sources said that Jundal was given a bowl each of vegetable and dal along with three chapattis. The officer said that besides interrogating him on the November 26 terror raids, they would also question him at length about Operation Karachi.
“Many Indians have crossed borders and have been instructed by Pakistan to carry out bomb blasts in all major cities in India in the coming year,” he said.
Jundal’s voice samples were also reportedly taken on Sunday to be sent for forensics analysis. Jundal’s voice samples will be matched with the telephonic talks intercepted by intelligence agencies during the dastardly assault, in which 166 people, including some foreigners, were killed.
“We will be matching his sample with the one that we have in the intercepts of conversation between him and the two terrorists at Nariman House,” he said.
Jundal, alleged prime conspirator of the 26/11 carnage, was on Saturday formally arrested in the case. After being brought from Delhi, he was produced before a local court which remanded him to police custody till July 31.
According to the prosecution, security agencies had intercepted calls made by the 10 terrorists who had attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008 to their handlers in Pakistan.
