‘Jundal was key conspirator’
The crime branch will name terror suspect Abu Jundal as a key conspirator in the November 26 terror attacks in a supplementary chargesheet that it will file by October 20.
Senior officials said that Jundal was aware of the attacks well in advance and had trained 10 terrorists to speak in Hindi, besides being the handler of the two terrorists who attacked Nariman House. Details of Jundal’s face-to-face interaction with Ajmal Kasab in Arthur Road jail will also be a part of the chargesheet.
In a bid to divert the attention of Indian security agencies, Jundal, who had completed first year MA in Hindi course from Beed, was given a task of teaching Hindi to the 10 terrorists.
“We will file the supplementary chargesheet by October 20. Final touches are being given to it right now,” said a crime branch officer.
The chargesheet will also mention that his voice had been intercepted by intelligence agencies, the police officer said. The voice samples of Jundal, who is a prized catch in the case, was sent to match with the voice that had been intercepted by the intelligence agencies during the attack. However, the forensic lab is yet to submit a report on this. The chargesheet will also mention that in August 2008 a group was informed by LeT top members about the 26/11 operation. Jundal was part of that group.
After the 2006 Aurangabad arms case, Jundal escaped to Nepal-via-Kolkata. From there, he had flown to Pakistan using a fake passport, the police said. Jundal underwent training called “Daura-E-Aam” and “Daura-E-Khas” in 2006 at terror camps of LeT in Pakistan.
