Kalmadi grilled on CWG

Jan. 5: The Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman, Mr Suresh Kalmadi, was on Wednesday interrogated by the CBI for the first time in connection with various cases of alleged corruption in the preparations for the sporting event.

Agency sources said “very significant” arrests in connection with its probe related to the CWG would be made in a day or two.

CBI officials questioned Mr Kalmadi for nearly nine hours at its headquarters.

According to sources, the OC chairman was questioned in connection with irregularities committed in the Queen’s Baton Relay, time scoring and result system, overlays, and ticketing and appointment of certain foreign consultants.

Mr Kalmadi reached the CBI office at about 10 am and left at around 7 pm.
