Kalmadi had pre-decided TRS: Shunglu

In the fresh findings of irregularities related with the CWG Games, the Shunglu committee has now sent another report to the PMO stating that in various meetings before awarding the TSR contract, the OC officials had asserted that Swiss Timing would be awarded the contract for TSR. The Shunglu panel alleged that the OC officials had not considered tenders floated for awarding the contract.
In the new report, the Shunglu Panel had stated, “at various meetings prior to the award of the contract there are direct evidences to establish that some senior OC officials had asserted that Swiss Timing would be awarded the contract for TSR.” The Shunglu panel further alleged in the new report that the senior OC officials under the instructions of former OC chairman, Suresh Kalmadi had “pre-decided” to choose a Swiss firm for giving the Timing, Scoring and Result (TSR) project “prior to the award of contract”. The report further points out that the role of top OC officials is quite evident in manipulating tender process in the `141 crore-controversial contract.

May 1: The dead body of a woman was found aboard a train at the Lokmanta Tilak Terminus (LTT) late on Saturday night.
According to the Kurla railway police, the victim, identified as Nanki Lalmohammed Sadiq (65), was travelling from Allahabad to Mumbai to attend the wedding of her grandson, which was to take place in Bhiwandi on Sunday.
“Nanki, along with another grandson named Imran Sadiq (20), boarded the Kamayani Express from Allahabad. Sadiq was sitting with her in the ladies compartment. When the train reached the Thane station, a man boarded the train and asked Sadiq to move to the general compartment,” said an officer with the Kurla railway police. Sadiq complied and when the train reached LTT, went to the ladies compartment to help Nanki unload her luggage. However, he found Nanki lying on the seat in a pool of blood. The man who had asked him to leave the ladies compartment was nowhere to be seen.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
