Kalmadi's photo removed from Congress Bhavan

A group of Congress activists belonging to anti-Suresh Kalmadi faction on Monday removed his photograph from his office at the Congress Bhavan here and damaged some furniture in the wake of his arrest and suspension from the party.

The city unit of Congress is divided between pro and anti-Kalmadi groups and the party city unit chief Abhay Chhajed is a staunch supporter of the tainted Congress MP.

Kalmadi's avowed detractor Mohan Joshi, MLC from Pune, had earlier in the day welcomed the high command's decision to suspend Kalmadi.
