Kamal gets threat call, seeks Cops’ help

Chennai: The Viswaroopam-DTH row took a new turn on Sunday with actor-cum-filmmaker Kamal Haasan approaching the state police headquarters stating that he was receiving threatening calls from certain people over his decision to premier his movie on DTH.
“They are threatening to make copies of the movie while it’s being telecast on DTH and circulate it. They are also threatening to effect power cuts when the film is aired,” Kamal Haasan told reporters after giving his complaint to Mr T.K. Rajendran, additional director general of police (law and order).
A section of theatre owners has been protesting the actor’s decision to telecast the move on DTH a day before it is released in theatres on January 11.
Kamal Haasan also met home secretary R. Rajagopal to explain about the threats. He said over 300 theatres would screen the movie on January 11 while the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ Association had threatened not to release the big budget movie.
