Kamath to be Infosys chairman Aug. 21
Bringing media speculation to an end about who N.R. Narayana Murt-hy’s successor is likely to be after his retirement on August 20, 2011, the iconic man himself announced that K.V. Kamath, currently an independent director on the board of Infosys, will take over as chairman; Kris Gop-alakrishnan, currently foun-der CEO of
Infosys, will be named co-chairman of the board and S.D. Shibulal, currently Infosys COO, will take over from Kris as CEO and managing director. All the appointments are effective from August 21, 2011.
Announcing the appointments, Mr Murthy said: “This is a historic day for us at Infosys... While Kamath will focus on strengthening board governance, Kris will focus on enhancing customer/investor/employee connect. Shibulal has exceeded the expectations of the board as COO.”
These changes herald the dawn of a crucial transition from the NRN era to the new Infosys 3.0 era which will largely be led by non-founding members. With its new aspiration to be the next generation, global consulting and software services corporation, the company is going through a re-christening exercise, where it will shed the word ‘Technologies’ to become Infosys Ltd.
