Days after her release on bail in the 2G spectrum scam case, Rajya Sabha MP and DMK chief Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi is all set to be rewarded with a plum position within the party hierarchy. An announcement to that effect is to be made shortly by party supremo M. Karunanidhi.

According to top sources in the DMK, Ms Kanimozhi will either be made the propaganda secretary of the party or the chief of the DMK women’s wing or the deputy general secretary. Sources also added that Madurai strongman and Union chemicals and fertiliser minister M.K. Azhagiri has already given his consent to the proposal. As of now, A. Raja is the propaganda secretary of the party, whose resignation was rejected by the party, which he tendered in the aftermath of his arrest in the 2G scam.
It is to be noted that AIADMK leader J. Jayalalithaa too was made the propaganda secretary and given a Rajya Sabha seat in the early 80s by her mentor and founder of the AIADMK, M.G. Ramachandran. Later, she went on to become the general secretary of the party. Currently she is serving her third term as chief minister of the state.
