Kani, Sharad bail order reserved
There was no relief for Rajya Sabha DMK MP Kanimozhi, arrested and chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, with the Delhi high court on Monday reserving its order on her bail plea.
Kanimozhi has to now stay in the jail till the next hearing of the case when the court will pronounce its order on her bail plea.
After hearing a detailed argument on the bail application, for more than two hours from both the prosecution and the defence, Justice Ajit Bharihoke said, the order on the bail plea of Kanimozhi and another accused Sharad Kumar, the MD and the CEO of Kalaignar TV, will be pronounced later.
Senior advocate Altaf Ahmed, appearing for the DMK MP and Kumar said, “The role of the accused, in an otherwise enormous offence, is very minimal as they are not the allottees of the spectrum.”
Citing various judgments, the lawyer for the DMK leader said, sending an accused, who was not arrested during the probe and has cooperated with the CBI, is “shockingly unreasonable”.
