KANI WALKS OUT OF TIHAR, DMK CELEBRATES

Much to the relief of DMK supremo M. Karunanidhi, his daughter, Rajya Sabha MP and 2G scam accused Kanimozhi, walked out of Tihar prison on bail on Tuesday after more than six months of incarceration.

There was jubilation in the DMK camp. Crackers were burst and sweets distributed at her official residence when she arrived there late Tuesday evening. Speculation is rife within the party that Ms Kanimozhi will be given a prime position within the party hierarchy soon.
Ms Kanimozhi’s step-brother, Union chemicals and fertilisers minister M.K. Alagiri, and her nephew, Mr Dayanidhi Maran, received her as she walked out of her cell in Tihar. The DMK MPs, led by senior leader T.R. Baalu, were in full attendance at the jail as also at her residence. Minister of state for finance Palani Manickam arrived at her residence early and waited to accord her a warm reception.
