Karat: Trinamul patronises graft
In what seems to be endorsing the charge of CPI(M) central committee member Gautam Deb that the Trinamul Congress was pumping black money in the poll campaigning as well as promoting corruption-based politics in Bengal, CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Wednesday said that the Trinamul Congress will have a government (if it comes to power) which will surely sponsor price hike and patronise corruption.
Pointing out that “these unaccounted money was coming from the Centre as a cut money for their part in the UPA’s corruptions,” Mr Karat said: “The Trinamul Congress wants a change, and by that, they want a government like the one in Delhi which has sponsored a price hike and indulged in colossal corruption. The Trinamul is part of the Central government and it cannot dissociate itself from the UPA’s series of scams.” He was addressing an election rally in Howrah.
Taking pot-shot at Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, without naming her, Mr Karat said: “It’s strange when the price of petrol was hiked, the Trinamul says they were never consulted and ignorant about it. In Kolkata, they would hit the roof on the issue but in Delhi, they remain deaf and dumb.”
Meanwhile, in another poll campaign at Santipur in Nadia, CPI(M) politburo member Sitaram Yechury also slammed the UPA government for corruption.
