Karnataka chief minister meets L.K. Advani
Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who managed to save his post despite corruption charges, on Wednesday met L.K. Advani and is learnt to have thanked the senior BJP leader for reposing faith in him.
Sources close to Mr Yeddyurappa said that after he was asked to continue as chief minister on November 24, he left for Bengaluru in haste and did not meet senior party leaders other than party president Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaitley.
Hence he decided to visit the capital on Wednesday to meet Advani and others. Mr Yeudurappa, who reached here on Tuesday, also had a breakfast meeting with BJP MPs from Karnataka at the Karnataka Bhawan here.
He is also expected to meet Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh later in the day. Mr Yeddyurappa, whose exit as CM had appeared imminent in the wake of corruption charges, had managed to stave off the challenge and forced the BJP central leadership to announce his continuation in the post. He had claimed the support of 110 to 120 party MLAs and a majority of the MPs from the state.
Meanwhile, sources said that Mr Gadkari will be attending a meeting of party MPs and MLAs on December 7 in connection with the upcoming zila and taluka elections in Karnataka.
