Karnataka terror module: 3 holed up in Saudi
City police, who foiled the terror plot to assassinate politicians, leaders and journalists with right-wing leanings, is now hard on the trail of six more suspects. Interpol has issued a `red corner' notice against three of the suspects who are said to be in Saudi Arabia, senior police official confirmed, adding police moved Interpol through the CBI to get the notices issued.
Usman Ghani Khan, 36; Abdul Majeed Mohammad, 24 and Shaheed Faisal Mohammad alias Zakeer alias Ustad, 26 are wanted by the Indian government for terrorism, organized and transnational crime.
The red corner notice will enable the extradition of the three, particularly Ustad, said to be the lynchpin in the terror plot which has so far seen 18 arrests.
Three arrested are wanted by the Indian government for terrorism, organised and transnational crime
The city police are hunting for six men behind the “Karnataka terror module”, which was busted with the arrest of 18 of its members who were plotting to eliminate rightleaning politicians and journalists.
Of the six terrorists, three are holed up in Saudi Arabia, and the city police have got the Interpol to issue red corner notices against them.
A senior police officer confirmed that the police had obtained non-bailable warrants, and moved the Interpol through the CBI to issue red corner notices against Usman Ghani Khan (36), Abdul Majeed Mohammad (24) and Shaheed Faisal Mohammad alias Zakeer alias Ustad (26). They are wanted by the Indian government for terrorism, and organised and transnational crime.
Of them, Shaheed is said to have played a key role and monitored the plots to assassinate politicians, leaders and journalists.
The 18 arrested were in constant touch with him.
Earlier last month one Usman Ghani Khan was picked up for interrogation by the Saudi police and was released after being detained for 20 days.
The Bengaluru police, however, have maintained that it had no knowledge of any person being detained by the Saudis.
“We are not aware of any person being detained or released by the Saudi government. But we have managed to get a red corner notice issued through the CBI against one Usman Ghani Khan and other two in connection with the terror plot,” said B.
Dayanand, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).
The CCB sleuths are also hunting for three more people, who are said to be from Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Nanded.
The three, who are on the run, were identified through the mails sent to them by the suspects.
