Karuna to be with Kani on his b’day today
Pleading that he was in no mood to celebrate his 88th birthday, on Friday, DMK president M. Karunanidhi asked his followers not to visit him either at home or party office. His misery got compounded with news from Delhi that the bail petition of his daughter and party MP, Kanimozhi, has not been listed for court order on Friday, which could
mean that she might have to remain in her Tihar cell for several weeks as the court vacation begins on Monday. Mr Karunanidhi had asked his son and Union minister M.K. Alagiri and senior party MPs to remain in Delhi to help Kanimozhi get released from the prison in case the high court granted bail. The court had reserved orders on Monday and word came from Delhi in the evening that her case was not listed for Friday. “There is still some hope because there may be a supplementary list in the court tomorrow morning,” a DMK senior said, adding that Mr Karunanidhi has booked on a morning flight to Delhi to meet Kanimozhi on his birthday.
