Karunakaran's condition turns critical
Thiruvananthapuram: The condition of ailing Congress stalwart K. Karunakaran turned critical today and has been put on ventilator after he suffered a stroke.
According to a medical bulletin issued by Aanathapuri Hospital here, where the 93-year-old former chief minister has been under tretament for the last 12 days, the ventilator support for him was resumed this morning after he suffered acute breathing trouble following a stroke.
However, the functioning of the heart and kidneys were satisfatory for time being. He was being given medicines to stabilise blood pressure, the bulletin said.
He was under close observation of a team expert doctors.
After remaining serious for several days, his condition had improved earlier this week.
Karunakaran was admitted to hospital with severe breathing problem and fever on December 10.
