Kasab recovers from fever, treated in jail
Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured alive during the 26/11 terror raids who was infected with dengue while lodged in the high security cell at Arthur Road jail last Thursday, had no fever on Monday. The JJ Hospital experts who treated him in prison said that he responded well to the medicines and senior jail authorities said that anti-mosquito measures were taken in the jail premises to prevent an outbreak of the disease.
On last Thursday, Kasab had complained of fever. Apart form the jail medical officer, an expert from JJ Hospital who visits him everyday ever since he is lodged in the cell put him on a course of anti-malarial and dengue antibiotics after he tested positive.
“On Monday, Kasab was absolutely fine and his antibiotics course was also completed. He had no fever on Monday,” said Dr T.P. Lahane, dean of JJ group of hospitals.
Special inspector general, Prisons, Vinod Lokhande said that Kasab was fine and was back to his regular diet.
When asked what precautions would be taken to prevent an outbreak of dengue inside the jail premises, Meeran Borwankar, additional director general of police, prisons, said, “Anti-mosquito measures are being taken in the jail and the doctors will be treating Kasab in the jail.” Ano-ther source said that fogging will be done in the entire jail premises. “Measures will also be taken to check on the open water storage.”
