Kasab sends plea for mercy to Prez
Ajmal Kasab, the lone terrorist captured in the 26/11 terror attacks, has filed a mercy petition with President Pranab Mukherjee after the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence awarded to him on August 29.
Arthur Road Jail officials said they forwarded the letter written by Kasab attached with the petition to the President’s office. There are now 12 mercy petitions pending with the President, including the 2006 petition by Afzal Guru, convicted for the 2001 attack on Parliament.
“Kasab gave us a letter seeking mercy, which we have forwarded to the President,” said jailer A.C. Rane.
