Kashmiri in Pune detained for 13/7
The Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad, now investigating the July 13 Mumbai triple blasts, has detained a Kashmiri man from Pune whose identity card was allegedly found at Kabutarkhana in Dadar after the bomb went off there.
Sources said the Kashmir police has been alerted and asked to do a background check on him.
“An identity card — that of a security guard — was apparently found by the police at Kabutarkhana hours after the blast. The card belonged to a Kashmiri. The police traced the man in Pune and is questioning him,” said a source, but didn’t divulge the man’s name.
The source said the man was originally from Mendhar in Kashmir’s Pooch area.
“The local police was asked to do a background check. The police is now trying to establish whether the identity card is real or forged. They will also look into the reasons for his taking the trip to Pune,” he said.
The Indian Mujahideen, suspected of having carried out the blasts, has a large network in Pune.
