Kerala sets plus-2 pass record
A record 82.25% of students cleared the higher secondary exam this year, results announced on Friday show.
Last year’s pass percentage was 74.97.
Of the 2,76,115 students who took the examination, 2,27,112 qualified for higher studies. While 2,795 students secured A-plus in all subjects, 13,137 got A and above.
Ernakulam emerged tops with 373 A-plus students.
Students of Thrissur’s Vivekodayam BHSS scored most A plus grades, 57, followed by St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Thiruvananthapuram, 56.
From this year, marks secured in physics, chemistry and mathematics will be counted for admission to engineering colleges in the state and hence, double valuation was conducted for these papers, said general education secretary James Varghese.
Thrissur district recorded the highest pass percentage of 88.93, while Kasargod had the lowest, 74.68.
Most, 693, students took the exam from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School and 627 of them qualified for higher studies.
Of the 78,862 students who sat the exam under the open-school scheme, 28,956 passed.
VHSE results: Of the 26,605 students who appeared for the vocational higher secondary exam, 20,793 (78.15%) qualified for higher studies.
Amala Mery Shyjy of SNDP VHSS, Adimali, was the only student in the state to secure A-plus in all subjects in the vocational category. Thrissur district recorded the highest pass percent of 89.2 and Pathanamthitta the lowest, 64.03
