Kerala trends low on porn search

Kerala may have been ranked on top by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for the postings of obscene articles or photos on the internet, but Google has a different story to tell.

Google Trends, the search engine’s specially designed system to analyse website traffic, hints the claim is wide off the mark.

Though the state tops the list for the total number of cases taken in connection with posting obscene posts and images, it is not even in the top ten states that search the maximum for pornography online.
In fact, six cities —Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai — take the top six ranks even on the world-wide statistics, and Kerala is nowhere nearer to them.

According to the google statistics, Hanoi and Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh, two cities in Vietnam come at seventh and eighth position after the Indian cities that have searched for ‘sex’ related websites on google.
The score of Indian cities has taken country’s average search volume index to slightly above 2 against the global average of 1.5.

However, when it comes to the keyword ‘porn’, Manchester in the UK and Dublin in Ireland top the list followed by New Delhi.
