Khadims slam Dewan for anti-celeb rant
The Khadim community of India’s one of the most revered shrines in Ajmer stood united against Dargah Dewan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan, the hereditary Sajjada Nashin of Khawaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishty and also sought action against him.
Mr Khan voiced his views against the visiting filmstars and producers for the promotion of their films and TV serials.
“He has no right to ask this, rather we sent a memorandum to minority affairs minister Salman Khurshid to take action against Mr Khan,” said former secretary of the Anjuman Syed Sarwar Chishty. The Khadims had a meeting on Monday and criticised Mr Khan, saying he was doing all this to garner publicity.
“He has no authority to issue such a diktat. The Dargah Act of 1955 has defined well the role of everyone. We could not understand on what basis Mr Khan is raising this issue,” asks Mr Chishty. “Since Mr Khan works under the Dargah Act and the minority affairs ministry deals with it, so we sent memorandum to Mr Khurshid as well,” Mr Chishty said.
Addressing a press conference in Ajmer on Monday, president of the Anjuman, Hissamuddin Chishty lashed out at the Dargah Dewan and questioned his intention and authority.
