Khandu’s son may be in Gamlin team
With swearing in of Jarbom Gamlin as the new chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, hectic lobbying has started among legislators to retain their status in the new council of ministers likely to be announced after the funeral of late chief minister Dorjee Khandu on May 11.
Sources in the helm of affairs, however, indicated that most of ministers of the Khandu Cabinet will be retained but at the same time eldest son of the late chief minister may find a place in the new Cabinet. Indicating that the Congress high-command has agreed to the proposal, Congress MP Takam Sanjay told reporters, “Khandu’s eldest son, Pema Khandu, is the district Congress president of Tawang. We want him to be included in the new Cabinet.” He said, “I have taken up the issue with the party high command that honouring the unparallel contribution of the former chief minister, one of his family members should be accommodated in the ministry and proposed the name of Khandu’s eldest son.” The party high-command has also responded positively he said. “I hope that after Khandu’s funeral things will take shape and a family member will find a place in the new council of ministers,” he said.
