Khushboo in DMK, Karuna praises acting
Actress Khushboo on Friday took the plunge into politics by joining the DMK. The actress met Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi at the DMK headquarters and enrolled in the presence of deputy chief minister M.K. Stalin and other leaders.
Putting an end to rumours that she might join the Congress, Ms Khushboo said, “I liked the party’s social reform policies, especially the DMK’s initiatives towards women’s empowerment and in promoting women’s self-help groups. I have no expectation from the party and will abide by my leader, Mr Karunanidhi.”
“I have noticed that Khushboo connected with the Dravidian ideology when she performed the role of Maniammaiar in Periyar with ease. She will continue to work for women and participate in other party activities,” Mr Karunanidhi said.
Asked whether she would get a RS seat, he said no DMK leader worked towards such goals. “We work for the party and its ideology, power and position is handed out by the party,” he said.
