Kin urge US to find abducted baby girl

Worried family members of slain Satyavathi Venna, who was found dead in her son’s house in the United States, on Wednesday demanded that authorities there make more efforts to trace the elderly woman’s grand-daughter who has been abducted.
“The only information we have is that my aunt (Satyavathi) has died and the baby Venna Sravani is missing. Our only concern now is the safety of the baby. We want Sravani to be traced at the earliest and request the US government to put in good efforts in this regard,” Satyavathi’s son-in-law Srinivasa Reddy and other relatives said.
Satyavathi from Guntur district was killed when she apparently tried to resist the abduction of her 10-month-old granddaughter from their apartment in Pennsylvania state in the US on Monday.
The police and the FBI have launched a massive manhunt to find the assailants and the kidnappers.
“It is three days since the incident happened. We are worried. The baby should not be harmed and they (abductors) should release her safely,” Mr Reddy said, adding Satyavathi’s body was likely to be brought to India on Saturday.
Satyavathi had arrived from India for a visit in July and was scheduled to return home in January. She was babysitting the child.
The parents of the child — Venkata Konda Siva Venna (father) and Chenchu Latha Punuru (mother) — had emigrated from India in February 2007 and have previously lived in San Antonio Texas, Troy Michigan, and Cleveland Ohio. In June 2012, they moved to Pennsylvania.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
