Chandra moves hc to challenge order in 2g case
RIDHIMA MALHOTRA
New Delhi, Dec. 25
Unitech MD Sanjay Chandra, facing trial for his alleged role in the 2G spectrum allocation case, has moved the Delhi high court challenging the trial court order which had turned down his plea seeking permission to go abroad for the medical treatment of his minor son.
In his petition, which is likely to be taken up for hearing by a vacation bench on Monday, Chandra has sought permission to travel to Singapore between December 26 and January 1 for the treatment of his 10-year-old son who has been suffering from diabetes and kidney malfunction.
Special CBI judge O.P. Saini had on December 20 dismissed Chandra’s plea to travel to Singapore between December 24 and 29 during the court’s winter vacation for his son’s treatment.
The CBI had opposed the plea saying the probe regarding the money trail in the 2G scam was still on. In the petition submitted to the high court, Chandra has said that the medical condition of his son is severe and it is important that he be urgently treated by the qualified Singapore-based doctor who has given an appointment for December 27.
