'Kiran is another Modi'
MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday dubbed Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy as “another Narendra Modi in Congress garb“.
“Muslims in AP have begun to consider the CM as another Narendra Modi in Congress garb. We cannot be a mute witness to the blatantly communal actions of the Chief Minister. We have reached the conclusion that the present government in AP cannot protect the interests and lives and properties of Muslims,“ Mr Owaisi said in his letter to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, withdrawing support to the Congress government.
Mr Owaisi said in his letter that the CM has forfeited the confidence and trust of the Muslims in the state by his regime's patently communal approach on Bhagyalakshmi mandir issue as well as on other incidents.
He added, “We have, therefore, taken the painful decision to sever our relations with the Congress and call off our support with immediate effect.“
The MIM chief cited various reasons, including frequent communal disturbances in AP, particularly in the last one year since December 2011, spurt in anti-Muslim activities of Sangh Parivar with active connivance of the police and state administration, communal and partisan attitude of the Chief Minister.A similarly letter was also sent to the PCC president.
The MIM will also hand over a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee withdrawing its support to the UPA government.
