Kolkata court send Mamata's nephew to jail for one day
A Kolkata court rejected the bail pleas of Akash Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and his three associates and sent all the four to judicial custody till March 2.
Akash and others were arrested on Wednesday for slapping traffic constable Subir Kumar Ghosh after they were caught for violating traffic rules and rash driving.
They have already spent one night in police custody at at Watgunje police station after the arrest on Wednesday.
The police constable who was asssaulted said that he was pushed around by Akash.
Akash has been charged under four sections of the Indian Penal Code, including the non-bailable offence of assaulting a public servant.
