Kottayam man sexually abused daughters for 2 years, arrested
A thirty-year-old man has been arrested on the charge of sexually exploiting his two minor daughters over a period of two years.
Binu of Karikkode near Peruva in the district was held after his wife Shiji filed a complaint with the Kaduthuruthi police, saying the man was sexually harassing the girls, aged 11 and 13, at their home.
Binu, a native of Kannur, came to Velloor some years ago when his mother shifted her residence to Kaduthruthy following a relationship with Shiji’s uncle.
This led Binu to marry Shiji at the age of 17, and the couple has been living at his wife-house.
The two girls are studying in the Eighth and Fifth standards. Shiji got to know of the matter a while ago and informed it to her parents.
Subsequently, local people intervened and put the elder girl in a boarding school.
Binu is a hotel employee and had no criminal background, police said.
“He confessed to the crime and we have started an investigation. We will gather scientific evidence and take statements from the people concerned,” circle inspector Rajeev told DC.
Binu was produced before a judicial magistrate court in Vaikom and has been remanded to judicial
custody.
