Lalu: Discuss ‘misuse’ of CBI

RJD chief Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday stated that he would like the Parliament to discuss in detail issue of alleged misuse of the CBI for political purposes. Mr Yadav asserted that he and the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav were not afraid of CBI but would like to know to what extent the investigative agency is willing to go in the case of the killing of Sohrabuddin.

Mr Yadav told reporters outside the Parliament that only a a detailed discussions would clear many doubts about the credibility of the CBI. “The BJP is demanding it (a discussion on the misuse of the CBI). They have raised the bogey of misuse of CBI in order to save (Gujarat chief minister) Narendra Modi. Only a full-scale debate can expose all these,” stated Mr Yadav.
The RJD chief went on to say that the BJP has grown nervous over the development in the Sohrabuddin case. However, he added that only a small fish (former Gujrat minister of state for home Amit Shah) has been arrested so far and asked “what about the big fishes and the real mastermind”. “During the debate, we will also ask how far the CBI is really willing to go in this case. What is stopping them? Amit Shah was just a minister of state for home, while the home portfolio was directly under the supervision of Mr Modi,” said Mr Yadav.
The RJD chief further threw the challenge to the Congress to take the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case to the logical end. “Congress should show real guts by getting on the master-mind. It is no use talking about small fishes,” said Mr Yadav.
Meanwhile, the RJD chief, while speaking in the Lok Sabha, stated that both he and the SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav were not afraid of the CBI. “Kis CBI se hamko dar hai (which CBI are we afraid of)?. Such statements are not only demeaning but are aimed to demoralise,” Mr Yadav said, while referring to a recent remarks of the BJP president Nitin Gadkari in which he had said that Mr Mulayam and Mr Yadav had betrayed the Opposition on the cut motions on the budget in Parliament as they had CBI cases pending against them.
