Lalu outbursts against Ramdev irk BJP
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s crude outbursts against Baba Ramdev for his ongoing campaign against corruption and his desire to join politics have prompted Bihar’s BJP leaders to call Mr Yadav an “incorrigible comedian” and an agent of the Congress.
Mr Yadav’s no-holds-barred comments disparaging the renowned yoga guru are set to add more political wings to the fight against corruption, currently being waged by the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar. By his acerbic comments, Mr Yadav not only linked himself to the recent row caused by Ramdev’s remarks concerning the Congress but also cast his own standing in the increasingly shrill anti-corruption rhetoric among politicians in a bleary light, said analysts.
“Yeh jo Ramdev hai na, Ramdev, iska dimag kharab ho gaya hai. Baba kahan se hai yeh? Yogi hai? Sadhu-sant hai koi? Yeh sab pet phulata hai logon ka... pet upar karo, neeche karo... (This Ramdev has gone mad. How come he is a sage? Is he an ascetic? These people offer guidance in physical exercise only)” said Mr Yadav in his inimitable humour-laced style in Jhansi on Thursday.
“This man (Ramdev) has now developed a hunger to join politics. So many bigwigs have spoken against corruption and then left the world (swarg padhare hue hain). Now comes his turn,” said Mr Yadav to journalists.
