Lalu, Paswan joint tour: Around Bihar in 10 days
RJD and LJP chiefs Lalu Prasad Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan, respectively, will jointly kickstart electioneering for this year’s Bihar Assembly elections by airdashing 40 places in the state in 10 days beginning this Friday. The two parties are also set to finalise seat-sharing arrangement in the next 10 days, while Mr Paswan stated on Wednesday that “now there is no scope for any other party to join their alliance”.
The LJP in its national party convention meeting in Delhi on Wednesday also passed a political resolution in which the party hit out at the UPA-2 by terming the Congress “arrogant”. Mr Paswan stated, “The Congress has become arrogant in the sense that the party is not looking into the woes of the people suffering from price rise. Had we been in the UPA-2, they would have had to roll back the fuel price hike.”
While dismissing speculation of his joining the UPA government, Mr Paswan stated that his alliance with the RJD is “rock solid” and the two parties would not repeat the mistake of the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. “From July 16 till July 25, I, along with Mr Yadav, will visit 40 places, on an average four places a day, by riding a helicopter together. Further, after the Monsoon Session of Parliament is over, we will again ride a rath to tour the state as part of the election campaign,” Mr Paswan told reporters.
The LJP chief also stated that there is no scope for any other party to join their alliance as the Congress and CPI have decided to contest the Bihar elections on their own. “We cannot wait any more for them,” added Mr Paswan.
He also said that the seat-sharing arrangements with ally RJD would be finalised in the next 10 days and the LJP’s state unit president Pashupati Kumar Paras and his counterpart in Bihar unit of RJD, Abdul Bari Siddique, have held talks over the issue.
The LJP in its political resolution also hit out at the Nitish Kumar led Bihar government by claiming that the crime has been much higher tha earlier. Mr Paswan described the NDA government in Bihar as “anti-people”.
The party also promised to made public “all the scandals and scams” of the NDA government in Bihar within six months, if the LJP-RJD combine came to power in the state.
