Largest factory in Singur: Buddha

West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday once again batted in favour of his industrial drive in Bengal, saying that if the Left Front is able to form the government by winning the upcoming Assembly elections, then it would come up with “the largest factory” in the state at Singur.

“I am assuring you that I will set up the largest factory at Singur after the formation of the eight Left Front government,” he said in a rally on Sunday at Santoshpur in his Jadavpur constituency.
Mr Bhattacharjee even dared the Opposition that “if they had the courage” then let them resist him.
“Singur has become a fulcrum point of conflict between the ruling Front and the Oppositions after the agitation led by Trinamul Congress chief Mamata Banerjee forced Tata Motors to relocate its Nano project from Singur to Sanand in Gujarat.
The Chief Minister reiterated that his government made no mistake in initiating industrialisation, and it was necessary in the interests of the youth in Bengal.
“I will have to overcome all the hurdles and establish small, medium and large-scale industries for the benefit of the generations to come. If not, what answer will we give to them when they would question our inability to overcome the hurdles posed by the Oppositions,” Mr Bhattacharjee stated.
However, he made it once again clear that his government will not take land unless the poor are rehabilitated.
Taking a dig at the Trinamul Congress’ call for “change” during another rally at Kalikapur as a part of his election campaign, he said: “What will they change? Have you seen the condition of the party? I can assure you that they will not be able to do any good for the people of Bengal. They are already heading two zila parishads in two districts in the state where they have performed poorly”.
Without naming the railway minister, Mr Bhattacharjee ridiculed her saying, “The railway ministry will not be able to complete any of the proposed factories in the state because they have no finance to do so”.
